Fuel scarcity, not again! - Loyalty Card to the Rescue

Well this is no news in Nigeria, it happens more often and when the fuel is available it’s expensive so which is better? I hope the scarcity means the price will drop soon.

We all know what happens when the scarcity season is upon us and trust me it is not the best of experiences, movement is restricted, long and endless queues at the filling station, too many angry Nigerians to deal with at a time, the list is endless so feel free to add your own, plus it’s the festive season and we don’t want any of that right now!

On a lighter note, I got some good news for you today, *wait for it*...... I found out while buying fuel at a Total filling station that they have a Total Card, like an actual loyalty card! all you have to do is pay 1,000 naira for the card and top it up for whenever you want to buy fuel especially when there is scarcity, also I was told some amount of fuel is usually reserved for the card holders and only sell to them from any Total station, so while others are lobbying to buy, you drive in like a Boss! and enjoy the 2 minute fame as you would be the topic for the next few minutes till they resume the arguments, shouting and throwing of kegs.

Like how amazing is that!!!

Trust me I bought the card immediately and topped up small change on it, also all vehicles can use one card, products bought can be charged to the card and you have a four digit pin to authorise purchases.

What I don’t know is if other oil companies offer the service at their filing stations, you can find out when buying at other stations, but I would assume the likes of NNPC, OANDO, MOBIL and co have similar initiatives.

So when next you are buying fuel ask the attendant for one of the cards.

Thank me later or rather thank Bimbo as she mentioned it to me first.
